Lady Eden Trenton never wanted to leave her privileged existence in London—until her father invites a dangerous suitor into her life. Left with few options, Eden devises the best reprieve she can: escape. Chasing freedom, she stows away aboard a pirate ship, praying she will gain her independence in the colonies before she is discovered by the nefarious crew.
Captain Caspian Archer has spent the last five years hardening his heart and searching to exact revenge for the event that tore his life to shreds. When he catches word that his enemy is residing in Jamaica, Caspian steers his ship toward the colonies in all haste. His plans soon change, however, when he discovers the young beauty hiding in his ship’s hold.
Cut from the only lives they have known, Caspian and Eden are pulled together as each pursues a fresh hope upon the sea.
Swept to Sea is the debut novel by Heather Manning that was published when the author was sixteen. I love reading books by young, new authors. I wish I has a fraction of their motivation when I was in high school. They amaze me.
Swept to Sea was a sweet romance filled with interesting characters, both good and bad. We are given several point of views, and each contributed completely to the story. I'm not usually a fan of multiple point of views like this, but within this story it worked and worked well.
I liked Caspian and Eden right away. Eden had some spunk, and while I wish she would have fought back more at times, she was smart and perfectly able to get herself out of a dangerous future. Of course, traveling into the unknown could have ended up even more dangerous, but this is how we meet Capsian, an ex-pirate turned privateer. He's pretty lovable from the start. I liked his personality a lot...even his temper. The interactions between Caspian and Eden her highly entertaining. It was fun to watch them go from indifference to more. They were pretty cute. I'm curious about what will happen with some of the other characters too. I smelled some more romances brewing. This was a fun and quick read. I thoroughly enjoyed Swept to Sea, and I look forward to more from this author.
Swept to Sea by Heather Manning was kindly provided to me by the publisher for review. The opinions are my own.
