She needs a fill-in boyfriend. He needs a favor. It’s the perfect, no-strings arrangement until they both realize it’s too real…

Sophie-Claire Wright’s life is like a bad country song on repeat. She keeps running into her cheating ex, her songwriting career isn't taking off, and her roommate just kicked her out of their apartment. With nothing to lose, she decides to do the one thing she said she’d never do: she moves back home. She left her small Southern town with big dreams, but now she’s going home with empty pockets.

Life moves at a slower pace in Sophie’s blink-and-you’ll-miss-it hometown, but her well-meaning, matchmaking mama doesn't have a slow gear. Sophie invents a boyfriend to hold off her mother’s efforts, but she’s out of luck when her mom wants to meet him. Sophie panics until she runs into Jake Cooper. Her high school crush (and former best friend) is back in town, too, and when he asks her for a favor, she agrees...on one condition. He says he’ll be her fill-in boyfriend, so it should be simple: re-introduce him to her family and then “break up” with him after a few weeks.

Sophie is sure she’ll be able to resist Jake this time. Sure, she was in love with him years ago, but that was then. This is now, no matter how great he looks, or how she feels around him. But she didn't bargain for moments that feel all too genuine. Dates that don’t seem fake. Kisses that leave her shaken and wanting more. Sweet moments where she forgets they aren't really dating. And she didn't count on old feelings resurfacing and complicating their arrangement—which is starting to feel less like acting and more like the real deal.

Soon, Sophie can’t tell which kisses are real or fake, but she knows she’s in deep...and she thinks Jake is, too. When she gets a chance to go back to Nashville and chase her dreams again, she has a choice to make: stay or go? Continue hoping that the life she wants is one song away, or finally write her own song?

One Song Away is the second book I've read by Molli Moran, and I'm super excited for more of her books to come out. I absolutely love, love, loved Sophie and Jake. You know I'm a big ole sucker for the whole best friends growing into more thing anyway, and this story was told just how I like it with loads of romantic anticipation. Jake made my belly flip more than a couple times. They were funny, and cute, and I couldn't get enough of them. There was quite a bit of character growth with Sophie through the story. There is growth with Jake too. He seems to be pretty comfortable with himself already, so I get the impression most of his growth happened before the book started. This was a feel good story filled with self discovery, growing up, and finding love. One Song Away is one of those books that I just wanted to jump into and live in for a little while.

The ARC of One Song Away by Molli Moran was kindly provided to me by Xpresso Book Tours for review. The opinions are my own.

Hi Hi there What’s Beyond Forks readers! Thanks for having me today. Gabby asked me to write a guest post for y’all as part of my ONE SONG AWAY blog tour, and of the topics she listed, one stuck out to me. She asked about my top ten albums to listen to while writing, and let me tell you, I could talk about music alllllll day, so I jumped on the topic! I create a playlist for every book I work on, but inevitably, there’s some crossover, especially considering I write primarily southern romances – which means a LOT of country music. Here are my top ten go to albums.

1. Frame by Frame – Cassadee Pope. This album is full of songs for just about any country music fan!

2. Where It’s At – Dustin Lynch. I LOVE Dustin’s voice and songs. He makes small town life something to appreciate.

3. The Man I Want to Be – Chris Young. Chris has this voice that will make you MELT, plus I love that so many of his songs tell a story!

4. Golden – Lady Antebellum. I have adored all of their albums, but Golden especially just has so many FUN songs, once you can dance to or sing along to.

5. Where It Began – Dan + Shay. These two make music that just makes me so darned HAPPY. I’ve had this album on repeat for weeks.

6. Jason Aldean – all albums. I can’t choose! I’ve loved Jason’s music from the beginning, and his songs give me ALL the feels.

7. Any Rascal Flatts album. It’s been said by friends that I can’t make a playlist without including a Rascal Flatts song, and I guess that’s true. LOL. They’re my go-to artist, my favorite. I fell for them when I was 15.

8. Storyline – Hunter Hayes. True story: the first time I heard “Storm Warning” by Hunter, I thought I WAS listening to Rascal Flatts. It’s been awesome watching him grow from his first album to his second, seeing the depth and heart to his songs.
3.      9. Crash My Party – Luke Bryan. ASIDE from the fact that Luke could crash *my* party at any time…I love this album so so much.

10. The Country Strong soundtrack. It’s one of my all time favorite movies AND soundtracks. So much love for this one.

Related: I didn’t add much older country to the One Song Away playlist, but I love me some Johnny Cash from time to time, and I grew up on Reba, Vince Gill, Garth Brooks, etc.
