Book Review: Supernova by Crystal Ward

Supernova (The Supernova Saga #1) by Crystal Ward
Genre: Young Adult (Paranormal Romance)
Date Published: September 8, 2011
Publisher: Firefly & Wisp Publishing

Everyone is born for a purpose, and for Evania Laylen, that vocation is about to make itself known.

Guilt ridden after the death of her parents, Evania sinks into a deep depression. Living only for the addiction, and the man who saved her, she gives up on life. That is until the enigmatic Desmond Kane enters and shows her the life she was born to live. Thrust into a secret, action-packed world of good versus evil, Evania must rid her life of the addictive temptation, prepare her body for battle, and learn to embrace the possible in a world of impossible.

Supernova is the first book in the Supernova Saga by Crystal Ward. After the loss of her parents, Evania has sunk into a world of depression and addiction. She's given up on life, and doesn't realize how strong she really is. I could really feel her hopelessness through the story. If it wasn't for her best friend, Daniel, I don't think she would have kept it together as long as she did. I really liked Daniel. He was just what she needed. I think she was what he needed too. Then we have Desmond. He's handsome, mysterious, and those eyes. I know, I know! I didn't actually see his eyes, but through the author's words, they are so easy to envision. He gradually gave Evania information about herself, and himself, and Guardians as the story progressed. I would have gone crazy having to wait for information if I was her. As a reader, I did go crazy. I want to know everything! Each character has a story all their own. Each story is tragic. This book is pretty emotional at times, but it also has romance, humor, and suspense not to mention twists to keep it well rounded and engaging. I enjoyed the paranormal aspects. They were unique. The story did leave me with a few questions. Do all Guardians have to have so much tragedy in their lives before they become Guardians? Why did Daniel react the way he did when he first met Desmond? I have my suspicions, but I want to know the actual reason. Also, what's Jackson up to? I don't trust him one bit. I hope we get these questions answered in the next books in the saga. I think we will, and I'm really looking forward to it! Supernova was pretty addictive. Once I started reading, it didn't put it down unless I had to.

I am the writer of some fabulous books in the form of being called The Supernova Saga. :) The first installment, Supernova, was published from this kickass company, Firefly & Wisp. Check it out and fall in love with Desmond Kane. ;) I do plan on writing something other than those books in the future, I just need to catch up on life first.
