Isolated by life and choice, John Harding, the Duke of Pembroke, sees an angel in a pale mauve dress across a room and is drawn closer as lust grips firm and hard in his stomach.
The wheat-blonde hair escaping her dull dove-grey bonnet and caressing her neck lures his eyes to a spot he'd like to kiss.
She speaks with animation her hands moving. Then as if she senses his gaze the stranger turns and looks at him.
A rush of pain and longing spilled from Katherine's heart into her limbs. It was so long since she'd seen John but her reaction was the same as it had been more than half-a-dozen years before. She loved him, secretly, without hope, but a chasm of years and status stood between them.
The Scandalous Love of a Duke is the third book in the Marlow Intrigues by Jane Lark. Like I've said before, you don't really have to read these books in order, but I highly recommend that you do. First of all, I love this cover! It suits John. Remember young, little John from The Illicit Love of a Courtesan? Well, now he's all grown up. John grew up with Kate, but he never truly saw her. At least not the way she wanted him too, but now she's all grown up too. Thanks to his Grandfather, John has quite a bit of baggage that he lets affect pretty much all areas of his life. His family adores him, but no one truly knows how he feels about them in return. He puts on his "Duke" face. Kate sees the real John come through from time to time, but even she doesn't know what's really going on in his head. As with all of Jane Lark's books, this one is so well told. She always gives you suspense, humor, and a steamy romance. I'm to the point where I feel like I know these characters, and I'm very attached to them.

Jane is a writer of authentic, passionate and emotional love stories.
She began her first historical novel at sixteen, but a life full of adversity derailed her as she lives with the restrictions of Ankylosing Spondylitis.
When she finally completed a novel it was because she was determined not to reach forty still saying, I want to write a book.
Now Jane is writing both Regency and New Adult novels and she is thrilled to be giving her characters life in others’ imaginations at last.
Jane is also a Chartered Member of the Institute of Personnel and Development, and uses her knowledge of people to bring her characters to life.
‘Basically I love history and I’m a sucker for a love story. I love the feeling of falling in love; it’s wonderful being able to do it time and time again in fiction, and my understanding of people helps me write the really intense relationships I enjoy developing. I like writing characters who will capture your attention from the moment you open my book.’
Jane is a member of the Society of Authors, the Romance writers of America, Romance Novelists Society and the Historical Novelists Society
